The American Embassy in Kathmandu is seeking an individual for the position of Radio/Telephone Technician.

WORK HOURS: Full-time; 40 hours/week
SALARY: Rs.739, 589 p.a.
Ordinarily Resident (OR): FSN-7 US $35,014 p.a.

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION
The incumbent is responsible for maintenance, installation, and repair of U.S. Mission’s unclassified telecommunications program; this includes telephone, radio, satellite, microwave, fiber-optic LAN links, and all other unclassified telecommunications equipment and high speed day circuits. The incumbent works with local entities, such as the phone company, local business, and various government ministries for a wide variety of reasons, including procurement and repair of equipment, licensing, and host government approvals.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- EDUCATION: Completion of Secondary School is required.
- EXPERIENCE: Three years of experience as a radio communication technician is required.
- LANGUAGE: Level III (Good working knowledge) speaking/reading/writing English is required. Level III (Good working knowledge) speaking/reading/writing Nepali is required. English language ability will be tested.
- SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to use various Windows based computer applications is required. Must have a valid class B local driving license.
- JOB KNOWLEDGE: Good knowledge of the local telephone and communications equipment to include radios, cell phones, and frequencies is required.

- Management may consider the following when determining successful candidacy: nepotism, conflicts of interest, budget, and residency status.
- Current OR employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply. Current OR employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report (EPR) are not eligible to apply.
- Current NOR employees hired on a Family Member Appointment (FMA) or a Personal Service Agreement (PSA) are not eligible to apply within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless they have a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
- The candidate must be able to obtain and hold a security clearance.
